Neighborhood

The Judería neighborhood in Seville is a historic area where the Jewish community lived from the Christian conquest in 1248 until their expulsion in 1492. Located between the current neighborhoods of Santa Cruz and San Bartolomé, it was the second-largest Jewish quarter in Spain, covering around 16 hectares. The community, made up of merchants, doctors, and scholars, lived protected by walls with gates that were closed every night to ensure safety and isolation, reflecting the religious coexistence and tensions of the time. Nowadays, the Judería is a charming neighborhood with narrow streets, flower-filled patios, and architectural and historical remains that evoke a past full of culture, history, and legends.
